Fierce Females – Strewth Shiela Review

10556869_556916177764358_4741742990924686390_o

Fierce Females are gaining some traction and quite right too. With a roster brimming with homegrown talent, there’s no reason for it not to prosper. The problem with all womens shows has always been getting folk to look past the guff mainstream companies serve up and have the audacity tae call “wrestling”. It gives womens wrestling a stigma it disnae deserve, and trivialises all the proper womens wrestlers out there bursting their arses to put on proper performances. So fuck that Total Divas shite, fuck it right in the eye. Get yer narra’ erse to Walkabout and see some real lassie hardcases do it properly. Nae barbies slapping each other about and botching simple shit, just pure, unadulterated wrestling. Strewth Sheila had plenty of that, and even though its nearly a week later, I’m gonnae attempt to cobble together some thoughts about that. Continue reading

ICW – Suspect Is Hatless (Repeat Hatless) Preview

The return of the single greatest red and black singlet with gold stars wearing performer in the history of ICW happens this Sunday, and we should all be very fucking excited about that. Red Lighting is yer ex ICW Champion. Red Lightning is one of the best in Scotland at what he does. Red Lightning is here, tae ransack….yer wrestling show. Ransack it and leave it in better shape than it was when he turned up, cause thats how Red Lightning ransacks things. Aside from that, big Sha Samuels is up for a visit, and it would be A Damn Shame is Coach Trip and Sweeney don’t have a great match (ye get it aye? aye yer a smart kid, I’m sure ye dae) so here we go. Week 4 of yer ICW 6 week extravaganza, week 3 of the Fringe one. Keep up with how its gone down so far here and here. Keep up with how this show went down by being there. Don’t worry if you’ve no got a ticket btw, ye can still get them here.

ICW – Get Mendoza! Review

btend

The things we endure for wrestling eh. Like Edinburgh….aw the fuckin time. Nah I’m joking, I’ve grown to like Edinburgh in a bit of a sadistic way. Its nice tae look at. There’s invariably decent looking burds stoating about most of the time. Ye still get bumped into sometimes, but once you’ve experienced London, Edinburgh resembles a monastery. Serenity now. Week two of a run where ICW run shows for six weeks in a row. Seven weeks out of eight if you include London which is…a fuckin lot. A lot of any Indie Wrestling company, and a true test of ICWs aspirations to one day become a full time gig, and thankfully every show is either sold out, and close tae selling out. The interest in the product is sky high, so the only thing left to do is deliver good wrestling shows. Thats the easy part eh? We’d soon find out.

PWE – Gradomania Preview

graaad

This might be it troops. This might be the moment it happens. Grado finally getting some gold roon that waist of his. If you read my shit, you’ll know I have an appreciation for folk who are good at what they do. If its goodies, baddies, inbetweenies and any other manner of cunt. As long as there’s a dedication to making it fuckin good, I’m intae it, and Grado is the best goodie in the game. He keeps ye invested in his story, even if you can occasionally grow tired of the same routine and thats part of the magic for me. The main reason that I don’t think there’s ever gonnae be a day where I don’t consider myself a fan. So this event might just be vindication for him. An event named after him, which is a bawhair off selling out. In his home town, AND he’s going after the belt? It all seems perfectly poised for Grado to have his moment. Grado going intae the lions den against big Dave Mastiff isnae the only thing on the card though. It’s fuckin stacked with good shit, so I’ll attempt to make that good shit sound even better with a wee preview eh? Aye fuck it. Let’s do just that.

ICW – Jimmy Nails Revenge Review

jimmmm (1)

I just…..I cannae.

I wasn’t ready. Was anyone? It’s too fuckin much. He can’t go. Whit in the name of fuck are we supposed tae dae now? Fergal Devitt wisnae an import. That’s the thing about it. He might not have been on every show, but he wis a member of the ICW roster. Ingrained intae the fibres of the place, just as much as a Joe Coffey spinning lariat, or Jester fishin somecunts eyeball out wae that corkscrew. On a personal level Devitt vs Wolfgang was the match that re-ignited my childhood passion for wrestling, and turned it back intae an all consuming, at times heart wrenching saga and for that I’ll always be grateful. It was only my second ICW show, and it persuaded me that ICW was something I needed tae see more of and since then, wrestling has been the one. For better, or worse. In sickness (so much fuckin sickness) and in health, till death do us part. I took wrestling’s hand again that night, and it took mine. He can’t be fuckin gone. Mind the BT Gunn match anaw? The chops. Aw the fuckin chops. Another work of art, and Surprise Devitt remains one of the best moments of my humble existence. I wis on the floor I’m told. I cannae mind it myself, cause I blacked oot briefly, but I’ve been told his presence on the top rope that night reduced me tae human rubble. It’s all done now. The thing that provided so much beauty, sometimes through flawless wrestling, and always through that endless array of abs the cunt seems tae have, is no more. His journey with ICW is at its end. So d’ye know whit? Before I attempt tae string together some shit about what was imo the strongest ICW show of the year from top to bottom, I just wantae say thanks. Thank you Fergal Devitt for being so incredible at what you do. A lot of folk are worried that he’ll get lost in the shuffle in WWE, but they need not be concerned. If he’s as good as we think, he’ll be absolutely fine. Cause true talent always rises. Always has, always will. Unless there’s some kind of howling element about yer personality (for example, shaggin wee dugs…a la Dave Batista) if ye’ve got the talent, it’ll happen.
